One of the most compelling reasons to enter into a Master of Data Science program is the breadth of networking opportunities that help students begin their professional or academic careers after graduation. Here at the Center for Data Science, we continually cultivate professional relationships with human resource representatives from companies looking to hire the next generation of data scientists. Last Friday, we held our first bi-weekly Roundtable Session in the CDS office space, and invited six companies to come and interact with our students. All of these companies are actively looking to hire Master of Data Science students upon graduation, and even have Summer internship opportunities available for students currently completing their degrees.
Round Table Sessions allow students to see how their own individual interests align with their education in data science, and for our first Round Table session, CDS welcomed: Guardian Life Insurance, Integral Ad Science, Medidata, IBM Watson, Nielsen, the Kavli Human Project, and Verisk.
Guardian Life Insurance: As one of the largest mutual life insurance companies in America, Guardian Life Insurance is looking to hire data scientists to ensure that they can continue to offer comprehensive medical, dental, and disability insurance for their customers.
Integral Ad Science: Marketing campaigns are only as effective as their placement, and with a seemingly infinite amount of data available about potential customers, Integral Ad Science offers a set of products that allows marketers to correctly target and segment their audience.
Medidata: Clinical research and trials are an indisputable asset to improvements in modern medicine, and with the amount of medical data and information available, Medidata is helping researchers improve clinical studies through cloud-based solutions.
IBM Watson: As both a historic innovator in the field of computing over the past 50 years, and as a continuing partner with the Center for Data Science, IBM is always on the lookout for promising graduates from our program. Their Watson platform is based around the corner from our office space, and is a leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Nielsen: Since 1923, Nielsen has provided statistical information on American radio and television programming, including information on who is watching, and for how long. Now they are expanding into the fields of website tracking, and are looking to hire data scientists to help with their core and emerging businesses.
Kavli Human Project: The idea of the human condition has long been tied to the theoretics of humanities and literature. Now, The Kavli Human Project is using an interdisciplinary approach, combining biology, behavioral studies, environmental analysis, and big data to quantify all the things that make us human.
Verisk: Verisk is a conglomerate of companies united by their data-forward approach. From atmospheric and environmental research, to financial advisory services, to predictive modeling in health care, the Verisk Analytics Data Science Excellence Program is looking to hire and cultivate the next generation of data scientists.
Current CDS students are encouraged to join us for our next Round Table Session on February 19th, for the opportunity to discuss career opportunities with: ATP, Comcast, TEKSystems, Spotify, Aetna, NVIDIA, Morgan Stanley, and Bitly.
