Bio: Haolin Yang is a Ph.D. student at the NYU Center for Data Science, co-advised by Tal Linzen and He He. His research broadly focuses on understanding and controlling the internal mechanisms of large language models. He is interested in developing mathematically grounded and theoretically motivated approaches that connect the internal representations and computations of neural networks to their observable behaviors, and in leveraging such understanding to enable robust and efficient model control. More broadly, he is interested in the theoretical foundations of deep learning, representation learning, and language models.
Prior to joining NYU, he received an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in English from Tsinghua University.
