Undergraduate: Joint Majors

Students outside NYU building

Joint Major in Computer Science and Data Science

This joint major prepares students to work with data science systems – the automated systems that effectively predict outcomes and extract insights from large data sets. Students learn to build these systems and gain the knowledge to influence policies governing data science technologies.

This is an interdisciplinary major (18 courses/72 points) offered by the Department of Computer Science and the Center for Data Science. For the full major requirements, please see the NYU Bulletin, and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions. We can be reached at cds-undergraduate@nyu.edu.

Joint Major in Data Science and Mathematics

This joint major equips students with data science methods and the mathematical theories underlying large data set analysis. It enables students to apply mathematical concepts to real-world challenges requiring data science and computational solutions.

This is an interdisciplinary major (18 courses/72 points) offered by the Center for Data Science and Courant’s Department of Mathematics. For full major requirements, please see the NYU Bulletin and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions. We can be reached at cds-undergraduate@nyu.edu.
