Below is a list of current student groups at CDS.
CDS Student Council
The CDS Student Council represent their programs and student population. The representatives work closely with the CDS administration and leadership as thought partners, and as such, are tasked to provide constructive feedback in various areas across the Center (student affairs, academics, operations, diversity). The student representatives may also serve as advocates for their respective student population and as communication liaisons between the student population and the CDS administration/leadership. To reach out to the CDS Student Council, please email cdsstudentcouncil@nyu.edu.

CDS Diversity Affinity Group
The NYU Center for Data Science continues to strive to be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. It is an integral part of our success as a research entity and an academic program. This effort has resulted in our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative where we outline our 3 main goals; fostering an ongoing dialogue, building a diverse community, and building an inclusive community. We are putting action behind these goals and one of those action items is to build a student affinity group. The goal of the group is to create an environment where students from underrepresented backgrounds (whichever background that may be) can come together and express themselves freely and safely.

Summer 2020 Data Science Incubator Project
The Summer 2020 Data Science Incubator supports students who are seeking meaningful summer experiences despite the sudden cancellation of many internships and other summer programs. Students are matched together in small groups to work together remotely and create end-to-end data science projects related to their interests. Each student group will also have a mentor (alumni, faculty, fellows) who provides guidance and support. This is a productive alternative for students who may have had their internship or other summer plans derailed due to the pandemic.
Summer Data Science Incubator
Collaborate with other CDS students to put together an end-to-end data science project over the summer
Submit your own project idea or work on other projects part-time from June 1 – August 21
