Christopher Ick

Bio: Chris is a PhD student advised by Prof. Brian McFee at NYU’s Center for Data Science and Music and Audio Research Laboratory. Chris has published work in neurobiology, astrophysics, and mathematics, but his PhD has been spent contributing novel methods in spatial audio, acoustic simulation, and signal processing for machine learning. Other research interests include leveraging language models for tasks in music information retrieval, and generative methods for acoustic simulation. Prior to joining CDS, Chris was a predoctoral researcher at NYU’s physics department, where he obtained his B.S. Outside of work, Chris is an avid cyclist, snowboarder, and music enthusiast.
