Undergraduate Declaration Period Open
The Fall 2024 Undergraduate Declaration Period is open through Friday, Nov 1. Below you’ll find each declaration form:

Data science is a cornerstone of a liberal arts education and the language of the 21st century. Vast amounts of data are collected every second, conclusions are drawn through a statistical perspective, and AI and data-driven algorithms are increasingly dominant across an ever expanding number of domains. In this environment, data science has become indispensable — not only in industry and academic settings but also in decision making and understanding the world.
AI, machine learning, and statistics are advancing rapidly, and how they will evolve in the future remains unknown. What is clear is that the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills gained through a data science education are more essential than ever for being an informed and engaged citizen, scientist, leader, thinker, or innovator.
While the major and minor are not focused on professional or vocational training, the undergraduate program in data science integrates theory with applications that reflect the challenges and datasets encountered in research and industry today. Through projects and problem sets provided in coursework and extracurricular programming offered by CDS—such as skill development events, company visits, alumni networks, faculty collaborations, and datathons—students gain exposure to the forefront of data science in practice.
